Consumer Support Grant
The Consumer Support Grant (CSG) is an alternative to PCA services, private duty nursing, and home health aide services. It gives people that are living at home and in the community greater flexibility, independence, and responsibility with services and supports. You may direct employ support workers, and buy goods and other supports. As the employer of support workers that you recruit, you set the worker duties, wage rate, work schedule, as well as provide the training and supervision of your workers. To make things simple, you must use a FSE (Fiscal Support Entity) provider for managing program money and making payments. Under CSG, the participant and/or representative develop a support plan and budget that is based upon assessed needed and approved service amount. Examples of goods and services that can be purchased are family caregiver relief, household cleaning or chores, home modifications, special diets and therapies, adaptive aids, etc. For more information, call Accra or the Minnesota Department of Human Services Member Help Desk at (651) 431-2670 or (800) 657-3739, or the Senior LinkAge Line, or Disability LinkAge Line.
